Use updated LS, EC review tool to get back into survey readiness

As The Joint Commission (TJC) begins its unannounced, on-site surveys again, review the updated Life Safety & Environment of Care Document List and Review Tool in the 2021 Survey Activity Guide (SAG) to get back into survey readiness form.

TJC has been promising to provide various updates on survey processes and procedures in the 2021 SAG, but it was delayed by several months before finally being published online in mid-March.

Shortly after that, TJC announced it was returning to unannounced, on-site surveys as the COVID-19 patient surge eased up in many areas of the country.

Note that most of the items on the SAG Life Safety and Environment of Care (LS-EC) review tool that are marked as new are not necessarily new requirements, says Steven A. MacArthur, a senior consultant with The Greeley Company in Danvers, Massachusetts.
