2011 has already seen its share of disasters. Japan was devastated by a massive earthquake and tsunami that also caused damage to nuclear reactors. States along the Mississippi River were hit with floods. Wildfires burned in Texas and Arizona. A deadly tornado destroyed a ­hospital in Joplin, MO.
